I think it might be beginning to turn around, however. You see Republican governors like Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin refusing to take the stimulus money, and almost no Republicans voted for that awful bill. This may be the sign of a turnaround–a move back to conservative principles. I guess getting burned in the last election has had its effect. The more they re-embrace conservatism and articulate it well, the more likely they will win in 2010 and 2012.
